  1. Download and install the FYI safe app on the parent device and the FYI play app on the child device
  2. Sign-up for your 7-day free trial here
  3. Bind the child device to the parent device by using the intuitive in-app binding process.

No, we don’t need any of your child’s social media account names, user IDs or passwords. Our technology monitors everything. This also means that when your child creates a new social media profile, join another social media platform, or start chatting on another app, we will automatically include it.

Currently, FYI play it safe monitors children’s Android devices only. From September 2021, parents will be able to log into their parent accounts from any browser, meaning that as long as your child has an Android device, we’ve got you covered.

Log into your account here and follow these steps:

  1. Go to Services -> My Services
  2. Click on your monthly product
  3. When the product is loaded, click on Upgrade and select the annual package.

Go to your account login page here. Click on “Forgot Password?” and enter your email address that you used to register your account. A password reset link will be emailed to you.

Data and privacy

In short, no one (other than you for the potentially harmful messages)! Conversation content and messages are encrypted on the monitoring services. In order for us to use our cutting edge technology, we do exchange information with our artificial intelligence and sentiment analysis partner to use the algorithms. This information is encrypted in-flight.

The short answer, is “sometimes”. At FYI play it safe, we know that you would like your child to be safe. Our teenage adviser, however, can’t emphasise enough how much their privacy means to them. FYI play it safe collects contents of messages, analyse these through our state of the art algorithms and sentiment analysis tools, providing you with alerts. Should we flag a message as potentially harmful, we will include a screenshot of the message in your “quick review”. Our motto is “protect them, but respect them.”

General

We would really like to say yes, but no technology will ever ensure that your child is 100% safe. Our aim is for children to be safer online, providing you with alerts of any incidents, which will allow you to investigate further and empower conversations with your children. Unfortunately, it will never be 100% accurate. Similarly, you may receive “false positives” every now and then where there was not a “real” incident. Our machine learning will get better and better and will even learn new teenage slang over time.
